Weber’s 14-inch Smokey Mountain Cooker has many of the consistency hallmarks that you would expect from the Weber line. The metal body is painted with black enamel, matching the iconic look of Weber. The grates are chrome plated as well, just as you would find with the high-end grills in their line.
When it comes to using it as a smoker, you can be shocked at how the Weber 14-inch Smokey Mountain Cooker can handle the temperature range. If you are very patient, you can dial the heat down to the 180 to the 200-degree range with the ventilation, and you use soaked wood chunks instead of chips. The Smokey Mountain Cooker can reach as high as 400 degrees if you open it up and you create a solid coal bed.
You get 154 square inches of cooking space or a total of 308 with the two 14-inch chrome-plated grill grates. If you break it down into portions, this is not enough to fit a complete rack of ribs. Even two butterfly chickens will smoke you.
With a probe thermometer, the silicone grommet in the smoker’s body is useful for tracking the meat’s internal temperature. Most other bullet grills don’t have a feature like this in this range.
